I'm still here...

Just really, really busy lately! Things have really begun to get crazy with work, my Fall workshops, some crafting events I'm in, a HUGE wedding swap, Evan's started hockey (urgg 7am is really early on a weekend)... and the list goes on & on. I'm sure this is no different many of the lifestyles out there!! Something had to give over the last week and sadly it was my Blog posting!

Happy to say I've completed my wedding swap and I'm busy preparing for Natalie's home party tomorrow night, but then I should have some breathing room to get ready for Janine's Crop For A Cure this coming weekend, finish my friend Jen's wedding favors and whip up a few wedding invitation ideas for Vickie at work! Whew! Did I mention things were crazy!

So, nothing new to post today. To be completely honest, I have lots to show you but need to find some time to get the pictures formatted for a post :o) How about I come back tonight or tomorrow AM and show you my wedding swaps? Sound ok?

Thanks for your understanding & patience everyone!!

Scandinavian Sensation!

I love this new set from the Holiday Mini, and I think its going to be a BIG hit with many, many stampers! The Holiday Mini officially begins on October 1st and I'm planning a special offer to kick start the 'Holiday' spirit! If you're on my customer mailing list - watch your inbox!!

This was one of the cards we made at my Christmas In September stamp-a-stack this past weekend. What a fun group I had here! Thank you Sandi, Laurie, Cheri and Erin for coming by and sharing some time with me! I also had Vickie & Amanda here too looking at Wedding Invitation ideas and I'm thrilled to say that we think we 'might' have found something that will work for Vickie's big event! I promised to work on a couple of samples so that she can get a better sense of how it will all come together! I'll share that with you gals too IF Vickie is ok with that...
So, my card above is pretty much case'd from SCS (kbrown701) - I made just a few slight changes as I already loved her color combination and layout of the card!! I really like using different sized cards to mix things up a bit - this card is a 4x4. The colors are Baja Breeze (new 09 In Color), Real Red and Whisper White. I used the coordinating Scandinavian Wheel as the background, where the original sample by kbrown701 uses one of the stamps from the set. I also used the Scallop Edge punch to create a very simple decorative corner.
Hope you like today's sample. I have a ton of stamping stuff to do tonight but I have lots going on outside of my stamping world - hopefully one day I can share. My schedule is just about killing me lately but I think its all going to be worth it in the end! That's what I keep telling myself anyway so that I keep truckin' along...
Have a great night everyone! Why not leave a message for me if you've stopped by so that I know who's out there! I would love to hear from you!

"Create For A Cure" - Save This Date!

Make sure you save the date for the first annual "Create for a cure" to help stamp out Breast Cancer.

Saturday Oct 25th, in lovely Dorchester

Rebecca Wheeler and I are hosting an event with tons of fun projects, prizes, treats...and SOMEONE WILL WIN A "BIG SHOT"...That's right...we are giving away a "Big Shot". Haven't seen a BIG SHOT yet - don't worry, I'll be showcasing in most of my September classes, upcoming club nights, craft shows... you name it, I will be using it! (Special thanks to my friend Anne who showed me how to use it since its new for all of us :o) !!!!

DO SOMETHING ABOUT BREAST CANCER
Each year, thousands of Canadians are touched by breast cancer. It not only impacts the individuals living with the disease, but their families, friends and loved ones as well. At the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, they are working to create a future without breast cancer. The money we raise from our Create For A Cure will be donated to the fight against breast cancer, and we will be issuing tax receipts. We still have lots of details to iron out...but we wanted to make sure you saved the date. There will be limited seating...so let me know if you would like me to reserve you a spot.

More to come very, very soon!

Same Concept - Different Colors!

I really like this simple card so I used some different color combinations (Sahara Sand & a few shades of Pink) to come up with this card! I think I will use this card layout for an upcoming class in October. Stay Tuned!

Cards By Request!

Ever since my Step-Dad was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, I started bringing my handmade cards into work every Friday to sell them - with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the Cancer Clinic at LHSC. The cards have gone over really, really well with my friends at work - each Friday they pour over all of the new additions to the basket and are able to pick up a card here & a card there for weekend events like birthday parties or friend get-togethers etc.

Recently, my friend Shannon made a donation to my cause and asked me to make her 2 'Thinking Of You' cards. I love making custom cards because it allows me to really think about what I know of the person, what he or she would like, the color combos, the theme etc. and then to watch their expression when they see what I produce for them - its awesome! That might just be the biggest reason I enjoying creating handmade things... to see the expression on people's faces when they see 'their' very own personalized card!!

Here's what I made for Shannon - I made her 2 of these cards:

The picture to the right is the inside of the card - although the way the color turned out it almost looks like a red card...but its not. I used the NEW Tangerine Tango color with So Saffron Designer Series Paper and Old Olive accessories (5/8 inch ribbon and Flower Fusion). I also used some Vintage Brads in the flowers. I'm loving the stamp set Eastern Blooms from the new Fall Winter Idea Book & Catalogue - did you know that this set is currently 15% off???

I did get the inspiration for this card layout on SCS - unfortunately the site is having some technical issues and I can't get into my favorites to find the name of the original creator...but I will and I will update this post with her name!

Email me to get your set before the promotion is over!

It was like Christmas here yesterday...

Good Morning Crafty Friends!

I was so excited that my supply order of Holiday Mini's came in yesterday, as well as my Holiday Mini preorder - I've had my advance copy of the Mini for a couple of weeks now! One of the really, really great perks about being a demonstrator is the fact that we get to see these kind of publications early! Not only that - but we get to pre-order products from the Mini so that they arrive in time for us to play with our new supplies and make lots of wonderful projects BEFORE the first eligible day of ordering! So, last night - I played!

The Holiday Mini launches October 1st! Stampin' Up! does not permit us to publish the online version of the mini until then so watch my Blog & SU! business website for updates BUT if you would like to arrange to receive a Holiday Mini for all of its amazing project ideas in hardcopy - email me anytime!

Here's a sneak peak of one of the amazing kits in the Holiday Mini - SU! is right on the mark with the direction they are going to put things in kits! They've made it really easy to create beautiful holiday decorations for your home, your Christmas Tree or even to put on those precious gifts that find their way under your tree! The Kit is called 'Star Bright Designer Series Paper Ornaments Kit' - it will be available on October 1st!

Here are the projects as individual pictures - up close! Keep in mind that the kits come in sheets with all of these project-piece templates already pre-measured and perforated so that all you have to do is pop them out and assemble!! How easy is that? Great for kits projects too!! You may also notice some 'felt snowflakes' on the smaller ornament... Yup - that's another hint of what will be available in the Holiday Mini!

Thanks for stopping by today - hopefully it won't rain all day where you are :o) We are off to the city Fair today and then a big outing for me tonight ... a Stag n' Doe! Its been awhile since I've been to one I guess so it should be interesting!

Christmas In September SAS!

There's still room in my next Christmas Stamp-A-Stack...
Wanna see what we'll be making? Here are a few of the samples...

Wanna also see what I'll be giving away at this SAS? Before I do that - think of 2 people right now that you think would like to try their hand at card making. Think, think...think. Ok - now, email them and ask them if they would available next Saturday September 20, 2008 from 9am - 12noon.

If we can fill this class with 8-10 participants, I will raffle off this stamp set the day of the event:
Everyone will get a ballot for coming to the class so everyone will have equal chance of winning! The set called Deer Friends and is a Level 2 Hostess Set!! Someone will leave with it on the 20th!!

So, gather your friends and come on out for a FUN morning of Holiday Stamping! Pls RSVP as soon as possible so that I can finalize guest numbers by mid-week! Thank You!

What's NEW With Stampin' Up!

ONLINE ORDERING is what's NEW!

You have a brand new, exciting and convenient option to ordering all of the wonderful products SU! has to offer!

Now you can order from me any time, day or night, through my very own Demonstrator Business Web Site - http://www.lisaburns.stampinup.net/ ! Whether you wake up in the middle of the night with the perfect plan for a perfect project, decided to finally buy those great products you saw at one of my demonstrations, or classes or just need to make party invitations with no time to attend a home party or class... NOW - it’s no problem. You can simply order from me online.

This is such a fantastic addition to the world of Stampin' Up! If you already have a demonstrator, you'll be able to order directly from her if she has a business website. For my valued friends - you can order by clicking here. Then click on 'Shop Now' and you'll be taken directly to the website that will allow you to search for all current catalogue products. It works just like most online shopping sites, where you 'add a product' to your shopping bag and when ready - proceed to the checkout.

If you do not currently have a demonstrator to help you - this makes ordering new supplies and refills of old favorite supplies REALLY, REALLY easy! I would be more than happy to help you with any questions you may have, or guide you along with any online orders!

If you want to learn more about online shopping - please click here to be taken directly to the Online Shopping FAQ page, also found on the Stampin' Up! website!
Keep in mind...

Online order does not replace workshop, party, class or club orders - there will always be value in attending these functions I offer - online ordering is just another option in the event you can't make it to one of these events OR you a product need something ASAP. You can also still place an order through myself ANYTIME by emailing me or calling me!

You'll want to ensure you put my name (Lisa Burns) in the field where it asks for your demonstrator - if you don't indicate a name, there is an extra premium added to your order (approximately 10%). You will also likely pay more in shipping & not qualify for any great Stampin' Up! rewards programs!

Online orders are payable by Visa or Mastercard. I currently accept the same, plus cash, cheque or email money transfer.

Watch for my loyality program coming your way very, very soon!

Happy Shopping!

Another Perfect Party Card Sample & a HUGE Thank You!

This was another card I made at The Perfect Party event in Aylmer this past weekend! Wasn't sure about it at first (still not really sure about it actually) but it got a number of comments from the ladies stopping in at my table so I guess it can't be that bad :o) Funny how we are so critical of our own work or creations that other just love!

Anyhow - I wanted to take a moment to say a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to 2 of my fellow local demonstrators for lending me some display items on the weekend! My table would NOT have be possible without the help of Alesha Walls and Anne Granger! From the table cloths to the logo sign to Alesha's amazing display board - they really helped me out in a pinch! Hopefully I can return the favor someday :o) In the meantime, I'm working on some handmade projects just for their kindness... I'll share those AFTER I return their items so that I don't ruin the surprise!
Have a great night everyone!!

Nothing new today...

We had an emergency room visit with Evan on Monday night, resulting in a very very long & late night for everyone so last night was an eat dinner, clean up, get ready for Wed - then BED kinda night! I think we were all in bed for 9pm!!!

Be back soon with some new posts! There is some BIG news from Stampin' Up! to share, there are some class/club reminders to share and there is a HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT from myself & a fellow team member of mine (Rebecca) to share... stay turned!!

Thanks for checking in though...

The Perfect Party - What A Party!

A few cards I whipped up at The Perfect Party to show off the 'Upsy Daisy' stamp set that's on sale right now!! 15% off ladies!!

Wow - what an event this was... Lots & lots of you came out to check out the amazing home businesses on Saturday afternoon! A very warm WELCOME to some new friends to my blog! It was a pleasure to meet & get to know you at the Perfect Party event and I look forward to getting to know many of you even better at some of my upcoming classes! Most of you didn't already have another Stampin' Up! demonstrator to help you with your product needs so I'm thrilled that you decided to stop by my table and chat about how I can help you with some additional creative inspiration!! My door is always open for you (even if it may be by email due to distance :o)

I know that Aylmer was a bit of a drive for some of you ... so for those of you that managed to make it by on Saturday THANK YOU for stopping by! I hope you found some really great product and met some new contacts for other home businesses! If you weren't able to pop in - we missed you! Don't fear, we are talking about repeating The Perfect Party and even bringing it closer to home!! Our next location is tentatively set for October and we are looking at Tillsonburg as the location! If you are in that area, or if you think you'd travel to Tillsonburg to attend the next event - be sure to email me with ANY home businesses you would like to see at this event as we are certainly open to adding to our vendor make-up if there is something out there that isn't already represented with our current attendees.

Here's a list of the vendors that were present at our Aylmer event: Stampin' Up! , Pampered Chef, PartyLite, Tupperware, Avon, Purseaholics, Epicure, Stella & Dot and Harbourtown Soaps! It truly was one-stop shopping ladies!!

Home Interiors, Home & Gift, ENJO are just a few potential additions for our next event! Email me here if you have other suggestions!

Simply Scrappin' Baby Class Samples! BOY!

As promised... here are 2 of the layout pages we'll be making at my Simply Scrappin' BABY class on September 21st. The RSVP date for this class is quickly approaching (September 11th) so if you would like to get 4 full BABY pages complete - please email me to sign up soon! I need to preorder the supplies for this class so that you have what you need to work away on your pages but I can't do that until your attendence is confirmed! Thanks in advance ladies!
Just to refresh your memory...here are the 2 girl pages I shared with you a few posts ago - remember in both cases, these are just 2 of the 4 pages we'll be making at this class!
AND... because these particular Simply Scrappin' BABY Kits are brand new in the Fall Winter IB&C, I thought I would share the contents of each so that you can see the tremendous value they offer!!

Let's start with the Simply Scrappin' Rock-A-Bye GIRL Kit (Item #112165):

Picture #1 is the full kit
Picture #2 shows the 12x12 Textured Cardstock (you get 8 sheets total - 2 Bashful Blue, 2 Kiwi Kiss, 2 Pink Pirouette and 2 Regal Rose)
Picture #3 & #4 shows the 12x12 Designer Paper (you get 6 sheets total - 3 of each of 2 different patterns. Each sheet has 2 sides so you really have 4 different options with this paper)! I've shown pictures of both sides of the Designer Series patterned paper

Picture #5 shows the coordinating self-adhesive die cuts! I find these just amazing - I love how they easily tie into everything you are working with on a page!! You get 6 sheets of exclusive, self-adhesive die cuts (2 sheets of 3 different die cuts listed below)

Now onto the full Simly Scrappin' Rock-A-Bye BOY Kit (Item #112172):
Picture #1 is the same as above. A shot of the full kit
Picture #2 shows the Textured Cardstock (8 sheets total - 2 Old Olive, 2 Bashful Blue, 2 Tangerine Tango and 2 Chocolate Chip)
Picture #3 & #4 show you the Designer Paper for this kit (6 sheets of double-sided patterned paper - each side having a different pattern to choose from)
Picture #5 again shows the amazing self-adhesive die cuts! You get 6 sheets in total (2 of each of 3 different designs)

As a guest at this class, you will also received 1 sheets of these amazing Greatest Moments (Item #111415) Rub Ons and 2 yards of some of the new Grosgrainribbon - blue for the boy kits and pink for the girl kits!

If you were to order all of these items at full price on your own, it would cost you $62.33. The class fee is just $45 so you are saving $17.33 just for coming to this class! Plus, you get instruction on using the kit, plus a night out with the girls, plus 4 complete pages to pop into your scrapbook album... WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR??

Here's a picture of the rub-ons and the ribbon!

Looking forward to seeing some of you on the 21st! Cheers! Email here to register!

Bunches Of Flowers!

I've wanted this 'THANKS' set for some time now. I love the size of the word and the boldness of the font! I broke down and bought it recently and here's my first creation with it.

The actual name of the set is 'Thanks For Everything' (109475), and can be found on Page 147 of the new Fall/Winter Idea Book & Catalogue. I used some new '09 In Colors for this card - Baja Breeze & Pink Pirouette, mixed with some Chocolate Chip. I really like this color combination...so when I saw that SU! added another Flower Fusion Too tin with those exact colors - I will thrilled and had to order them also!

I then used natural hemp to make some stems from my bunches of flowers! Thanks for stopping by today!

Look At These Cards From My SIL & Friend!

Aren't they beautiful!! My sister-in-law & wonderful FRIEND P.M. gave us these cards for taking her son (my nephew Jake) on a camping trip. You may remember the post from about a week ago, showing you pictures from our trip up North to Algonquin Park. I just love these cards and I really appreciate having P.M in my life (again :o)

Lots Of Scrappin' Lately

Funny how that works... some weeks I seem to have zero time to scrap, and others I find 10 mins here or 20 mins there to sit down and complete a page! I think it really helps to have some new inspiration also - so for you crafters out there that feel like you're in a bit of a scrappin' funk... get your hands on the new Fall Winter Idea Book & Catalogue and see what the wonderful projects do for your creative mojo! Contact me (lisaburns@rogers.com) if you don't already have a demonstrator (and you live in Canada) and I would be happy to set you up with a new catalogue!

So, one more 6x6 double-page layout to share before I get into some September class sample pictures! I love these pictures of Evan and his little friend Kaitlyn! Kaitlyn's Mom (Sheri) and I have been friends since we met at TD almost 14 years ago! With busy lives, and living in different towns I don't get to see Sheri all that much anymore so I'm glad I have these pictures to remind us of a few of our visits when the kids were smaller! Miss ya Sheri!

Here are the pages shown individually - I used the colors Sahara Sand, Pumpkin Pie & combinations of Brocade & Bashful Blue. The words 'laughter' and 'celebrate memories' are Rub Ons, and I also used some of our amazing punches to layer.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you've had a wonderful and 'labour-free' weekend!
