Christmas In July Stamp-A-Stack Samples! PART 2

Good Morning and Happy Monday to you all!

Here are two more samples from my Holiday Class on the weekend! The retiring stamp set Peaceful Wishes was a very popular set during this class - without realizing it early on, I had used the set for 3 of the 6 Holiday cards!!

The first card was again taken from SCS (Jova29), where that crafter used the new 2009 In Colors. Since we can't sell those colors yet, I decided to use Real Red and Old Olive. The girls really liked this card for its simplicity and ability to easily duplicate at home!!

The second card is a bit of a simplified version of a card sample in the '07 Fall/Winter Collection catalogue (last years) - hard to see the details of this card b/c of the dark cardstock but it was another fairly simple card and the girls enjoyed learning how to make a simple 'window' using the square punch! Full card recipe is listed below. Enjoy your Monday - thanks for stopping by!

I'll be back tomorrow with the final 2 samples from this Christmas In July class!

Happy Holidays Card
Stamps: Peaceful Wishes (Retirng), Happy Everything
Cardstock: Whisper White, Real Red
Ink: Real Red, Old Olive
Accessories: Red Gingham Ribbon, Glue Dots

Warm Wishes Card
Stamps: Peaceful Wishes (Retiring), Hugs & Wishes, En Francais (Retiring)
Cardstock: Bravo Burgundy, Always Artichoke, Confetti White
Ink: Always Artichoke, Basic Black, Stampin' Write Marker - Bravo Burgundy

Christmas In July Stamp-A-Stack Samples! PART 1

We had a great time today with our crazy Christmas cardmaking in July class - with 25 degree plus weather outside! lol! It was funny to see the faces of people around me as I mentioned we were having this class in July but I think my guests would agree that we got a healthy start to our Holiday cards and had a blast doing it!

I will share all of the cards over the next week.
I took the first card idea right from SCS - krystie lee. I made only small changes to the card as I liked it so much! The inspiration from the 2nd card also came from SCS after seeing a sample that mamamel had created using the Snowflake Spot. I decided to add some Designer Series paper and dots to the card rather than more brads. Full recipe is listed below for both cards - hope you enjoy them as much as we did today!
Merry Christmas Card
Stamps: Hung Up On The Holidays, Many Merry Messages
Cardstock: Soft Sky (Regular CS & Textured CS), Whisper White, Wild Wasabi
Ink: Soft Sky, Real Red, Wild Wasabi, Basic Black
Accessories: Wild Wasabi Double-Stitched Ribbon, Crystal Effects, Stamp-A-Ma-Jig
Joy Card
Stamps: The Snowflake Spot
Cardstock: Not Quite Navy, Whisper White, Designer Series Close To Cocoa
Ink: VersaMark, Not Quite Navy, Close To Cocoa Marker
Accessories: Winter White Embossing Powder, Mat Pack, Silver Brad

Christmas In July Stamp-A-Stack - July 27th

Hi Everyone!

I posted my July class calendar awhile ago but wanted to follow up with some teasers pics for my upcoming Christmas In July class! Sorry about some of the blur - my camera isn't the greatest up-close-and-personal!!
This stamp-a-stack was originally scheduled to last 3 hours (1-4pm Sunday July 27th) but I think I'm going to be able to get it down to 2 hours (1-3pm) by doing much of the pre-work for guests!

I have a few more spots open in case you would like to attend - email me for full details (lisaburns@rogers.com). I have used mostly retiring stamp sets so that those attending can get some real working experience with some of the sets up for sale in August - in fact, those that attend will be able to see my growing pile of product being sorted for the sale - in advance!! I can't sell anything early but by knowing what I'm selling, you can work on your wish list!

I've also decided on Holiday cards that give you a nice balance of simplistic layouts and a few that have a few more steps to them. Guests will make 12 Holiday Cards - 2x each of 6 different designs. I specifically made 2 of the 6 layouts suitable for masculine giving (after all, I find these challenging myself)!
Have a great Sunday! I'll be back soon with some scrapbook pages I've been working on!

NEW Stampin' Up! Decor Elements - Tutorial!

So here it is... My very first home Deor Elements image. Of course, it was easy to choose this CREATE image (114079) to start with. Perfect for my craft room! I hope you enjoy this step-by-step tutorial!
My DH Rod helped me with my first wall decor so that I could take step-by-step pictures of the process and let me tell you... it really is fast & easy to get these beautiful images on your walls! And, they look FABULOUS!

Step 1: Determine the perfect spot for your wall decor image. Take a damp cloth and wipe the area clean to remove any dust or particles that might create bumps in your working surface area. I let my area air dry.

Step 2: Measure your area from top to bottom and side-to-side to ensure your wall decor image is positioned exactly where you'd like it in your space (in case you are wondering... these are not my hairy arms. Rod loves to measure things & bascially didn't trust me to get this perfectly straight :o)

Step 3: On a flat surface / table, place your image facing down so that you see the back grid paper side and using the Decor Elements applicator (114285), lightly swipe over the image from the center to the outer edges. This will transfer the image from the backing sheet to the transfer sheet.

Step 4: Carefully & slowly peel the backing sheet off, working from one side to the other. Peel on an angle. As you are peeling the backing sheet off, make sure you are watching that your image is transferring properly to transfer sheet. HINT - if you order the 'Create' statement, the only thing I really had to watch for were the 'dots' or 'periods' as they were smaller images

Step 5: Gently place the image on the transfer sheet within your marked corners on your wall space (be careful not to touch the sticky part / image on the transfer sheet or let the sheet fold over onto itself). I used my hands to get the image/transfer sheet to get its initial stick, then grabbed my applicator tool and began running over the image to transfer it to the wall. I used light swipes from the center of the image to the outside edges again.

Step 6: Here comes the FUN part !! Carefully & slowly peel the transfer sheet off the image, pulling straight back at a bit of an angle if you can. Make sure that your image has transferred to the wall as you continue to pull the transfer sheet off. If any part of the image did not transfer, carefully replace the transfer sheet over the image again and rub until the image is completely adhered to the wall. If you've tried our rub ons on your cards &/or scrapbooking - it is essentially the same process for the home decor...just larger images!
Step 7: YOU'RE DONE ! I gently QC'd my work by ensuring every word was securely adhered to the wall & that there weren't any bubbles. Perhaps more needed for the word images, due to the amount of smaller 'individual' images (ie. the letters)
If you have any questions on this tutorial or wish to order your very own Decor Elements image for your special space - email me at lisaburns@rogers.com and I would be happy to help. I have a very special offer & gift for anyone that places their Home Decor Elements order with me by July 31, 2008! If you are on my customer email distribution list - watch for those special details coming to your inbox this weekend!!

A Very Busy Week!

Thank goodness the work week is just about over so that we can focus on some downtime & rest! My 4 1/2 yr old Evan started daycamp this week so its been hectic! I'll post some cute pics a bit later this weekend after I get caught up from the week away from bloggin'!!

Because it was so busy this week, I have very little (ok, zero) time in my stamping space until last night. To be completely honest, I really just wanted to go find my bed at 930pm last night but I had to make a male birthday card for someone at work for his celebration lunch today ...so off I went to whip something up. I seem to have hundreds of cards on hand for just about everything EXCEPT male cards!!!

Here's what I came up with using the stamp set 'On The Fly' (109320). I recently purchased this set and was delighted to find out it is NOT retiring in August so I'm sure I will get plenty of usage out of it in the coming year!!
I used the colors Chocolate Chip & Certainly Celery together - I thought it created a nice summer 'male' feel. I also used the Designer Paper Series (Certainly Celery) to give some design to the background. Rather than just 2-step stamping the caught fish onto the main fisherman image, I stamped the fish on a separate piece of whisper white cardstock, cut it out and them popped it up using dimensionals. Not sure how well you can see that in the picture...
Off to Evan's last day at daycamp & work for me but I will definitely be back on the weekend with more updates, samples and a BIG, BIG announcement! Have a SUNNY Friday everyone!

Saying Goodbye to 2008 In Colors and HELLO to 2009 In Colors !

By now, most of you have seen the Retiring Stamp Set list (announced in June). Did you know that Stampin' Up! also posts a Retiring Accessory list? Watch for this list to be released on July 21st!

*If you DON'T want to see some new 2009 Stampin' Up! Product, don't scroll down this post *

We already know of a few things that will be on this Retiring Accessories list. Hodgepodge Kits will be on it (get yours today for 25% off the regular price) as well as the 2008 In Colors. I have really come to love each and every one of the 2008 In Colors and their wide range of coordination with SU!s 48 standard colors so I will definitely miss: Blue Bayou, Soft Sky, Groovy Guava, River Rock, Purely Pomegrante and Wild Wasabi! If I HAD to choose my 3 favorite, they would be Wild Wasabi, Purely Pomegrante and Groovy Guava!!

With the retiring of these colors, we anticipate the launch of 6 NEW In Colors for 2009 so without further delay - here they are:

Not sure why the Pink Pirouette isn't showing up with this blog post but it might be because it is a softer color - a bit deeper of a Rose shade than Pretty In Pink (or so it looks in the preview that we demos get :o)
I know many of you were anxious to see these NEW 2009 In Colors to make more decisions about whether to get 2008 retiring products or not so I hope by sharing the new colors, your choices become easier!!

Have a great day everyone - off to do some swimming with Evan!

Decor Elements By Stampin' Up!

For those of you that receive my monthly Newsletter, you likely noticed the announcement that Stampin' Up! is now offering a NEW product line, specifically designed for Home Decor!

I'm so excited about this new product line and can't wait to see the full suite of vinyl wall decor we will have to choose from in the new Fall-Winter IB&C. For now, SU! has provided a sampling of choices available for purchase beginning July 1st!

SU! gave demos an opportunity to preorder some of these self-adhesives vinyl elements (which are easy to apply & remove) so that we could discover how easy & cost effective they can be to do our own home decorating! If you attend my classes, or play to attend one in the near future, you will be able to see my very first decor elements in person as I will be giving it a try this coming weekend in my craft room! I will share some before & after pics early next week!

I have about 15 decor elements sample brochures available now (more to come with the launch of the Fall-Winter IB&C) but if you are interested in one of these first 15 brochures, email me at lisaburns@rogers.com and I will arrange to get you one :o)

Have a great day everyone!
