What A Day! HELLO Friends!

Today was a fun-filled day of stamping, friends and creativity! At 730am this morning, one of my friends ( & SU! team members ) left for a Spring Fling event held at Fairmont Public School! This was an all day event with guest speakers, lots of technique demonstrations, Make n' Takes and much, much more! It was well worth the cost of admission!

A few posts ago, you might remember the picture of my WOW swap 'preps' - a pile of pre-cut supplies ready to be assembled for this event. Now that the event is over, and my swaps were handed in, I can show you the finished project. Each day this week, I will also be showing some pictures of the projects I received back as part of this swap! They are all very neat & creative projects for sure!

The first picture is my prototype - I ended up only making minor changes to my original creation, which is actually quite different for me as I normally start with one thing and after several mind-changing decisions, end up with something totally different! I think

Here are the final projects - I made 16 in total! I then received 15 - 3D WOW projects back in return!! I decided on the magnetic clasps (dollar store purchase - 4 for $1) as they work a bit better on the fridge. The little insert card is completely removable so it could be used to create a list or a bookmark, leaving the base intact for further use later on. For the ladies that recently attended my Pastels Class - you'll recognize the technique using VersaMark & chalk!

Be back tomorrow with more samples from today's event! Thanks for stopping by to visit!

Preparing for Swaps

Some of you have asked about various demo swaps and exchanges so I thought I would post a prep picture of my WOW swaps for this weekend. Myself and lots of other Stampin' Up! demo's will be attending a Spring Fling event hosted by our very own upline Alicia Ryckman! Alicia has arranged to bring in Top U.S. demos as guest speakers so I'm sure it is going to be a fun-filled day!

One of the exciting things about events like these are swaps. Swaps are cards, card fronts, 3D items ...pretty much any project that has been defined as acceptable by the swap organizer. In my case, this is the very first WOW swap I've participated in so I'm not really sure what to expect but I'm excited nonetheless! What I do know for sure is that you can make any 3D project that provides that WOW FACTOR... anything but a card!

Here's my teaser...

I'll share the actual finished project early next week along with all the WOW swaps I get back! I'm hoping for some really FUN and FRESH class ideas from this swap!
Thanks for stopping by tonite!

Our weekend trip to Toronto!

Thank you to all of you that popped by over the weekend - even though I hadn't posted anything new :o) I was so busy trying to get ready for a weekend away that I forgot to mention that to you guys & gals! Well, we are back - and let me tell ya - not a moment too soon!
Now, let's prefice this blog entry with a few points...

For anyone with kids, or young nieces & nephews etc. you KNOW how challenging the younger years can be! Our little guy Evan (now 4 1/2 yrs) has been quite the... let's just say... 'handful' since about the age of 18mos. As a baby Evan was AMAZING! He slept & ate well, he had a calm & happy disposition - simply a joy to have as a first child!

Then 18 mos. hit and man o' man - my husband and I didn't know what hit us. It is soooo hard to explain to the average person but I believe there will be parents out there reading this that will know EXACTLY what I am talking about here. With only love intended, we truly thought our son had been kidnapped by aliens and replaced with the devil! Ok, I may be bordering on dramatic here but seriously, the last couple of years have been pretty trying for us all! Many parents will say to us 'Oh - that's just kids' to which I often reply (or wish I could reply) with 'Would you like to have him for 24hrs and then comment'!!!! My husband and I are very tolerant people, so what I'm describing here isn't the normal age appropriate behaviors and growing pains ...it goes much, much further than that!

So, with that background in mind - we were so excited to see some 'forward' progress over the last couple of months that we (I) decided to test the waters and book a weekend away for the 3 of us for my husbands bday! Nothing to major, just Friday to Sunday in Toronto without a heavy agenda. Up to this point, we would NOT even consider a trip like this (even if just for a weekend) because it was way to stressful and quite honestly a waste of money! The only trips we've taken in the last 3 yrs have been camping trips b/c we can more easily control those situations as needed with Evan and his 'unpredictability'~!

Well, the short story is ... I don't think he (we) were quite ready. Almost from the minute we picked Evan up at school to head to the train station (something we thought would completely capture his attention for a couple of hours) - he began to act up. This lasted the entire 2 1/2 hrs on the train and right through the night at the hotel room. After a good night sleep, we were hopeful that he would wake up refreshed and ready to go about our day! The outbursts & tantrums lasted right through Saturday - it even resulted in us leaving the 'Hockey Hall Of Fame', another place Evan has talked about going for a couple of weeks now! Some of you are going to be saying to yourselves... 'ahhh, he's probably just coming down with something and therefore not himself, or maybe he was over-tired or hungry'. Nope. None of these scenarios could explain this behavior! Believe me, I wish it were that easy!

We managed to get through the weekend and things did get a bit better Saturday evening and for our trip home (go figure - he started to settle into the travelling thing) but Rod and I are exhausted and kinda bummed. Everyone always says to travel with your kids while they are young - that they will hit an age when they don't 'want' to travel with their parents anymore but I don't think any of those parents have had a child like ours! So, this message is for all those parents out there that can relate to what I've posted here today - and I know there are some out there.

Someday, we will try the 'travelling' thing again, but for now - HOME & routine is the best place for our little guy and that makes Mommy & Daddy happier people too!

Thanks for stopping by - I will get back to some stamping (my happy place) soon, but for now - here are a few pictures I managed to get when things were going ok on our trip. I will definitely be scrapbooking these shots :o)
Waiting for the train ! Waiting for HHOF to open !
What a thrill ! Evan wasn't the only one making a wish :o)

Western Fair Spring Craft Show!

Hi There Ladies!

Thought I would share some pics from the Craft Show this past weekend - I was hoping to get more pictures of our table but we only had a 1/2 hr to set up and that seemed like 5 mins when all was said & done. Once the show started at 11am - it was pretty steady until the end but here are a few shots of Rebecca W and myself having FUN!

Here are a few of the cards I made up in pkgs to sell at the show.

I also made up a bunch of these 2,4,6,8 candy bags in 3 different pastel colors for Spring. The purple was the first to sell out. The other colors were Apricot Appeal and Pixie Pink!

Have a great night everyone! Thanks for stopping by!

Quick Sunday Post

I wish I had a sample to show you tonight - actually I do ...but I'm so tired that I don't think I can find the energy to get my camera out and take some shots, load it to my computer and design a post! Sad, I know, but I should be back tomorrow night with more energy!

I did want to extend a very WARM SPRING welcome to all of the lovely ladies ( & a few devoted husbands that were with their lovely wives) we met today at the Western Fair Craft Show! How cool is it to know that there are soooo many crafters of all kinds out there! It was amazing to meet so many ladies that already knew what Stampin' Up! was, and who appeared to be addicts just like us - lol! I couldn't help but notice the 'funny' looks from husbands that connected to the fact that we were (by association) suppliers to their wives' habit! Some might go so far as to say 'leaders of their cult'! We had a few good laughs with these dear men and they truly are GOOD SPORTs!

Rebecca and I took some pics of our booth and I created a few new things for this show which I plan to post this week. I hope everyone enjoyed their much-warmer weekend :o)
