Hi! Yes, I'm still blogging :o)

Blog posts have been slow coming this week - I have tried to get to bed by 10pm every night to see if I'm feeling more rested during the day...and you know what? I DO! Fancy that, more sleep does help the body.

More sleep, means less stamping for me this week but I'll be back on track this weekend with some fun stuff to show you - including LOTS of new product I've received this week! Can't wait to play!! Even though I don't have a new picture to show you, I would like to summarize my plans for Feb/March while Sale-A-Bration is on (STARTED TODAY)

Below are the events I'm working to build into my calendar. I don't have dates/details beside them yet but this will give you an idea of what to watch for:
  • Spring technique class
  • Swap Class
  • MEGA Event (it's back)!
  • SAB Class

Looks like we'll be snowed in tonite so I should have another post coming along shortly :o) Thanks for checking in today. Have a safe & warm evening everyone!

Product Endorsement in Creating Keepsakes 2008 Special Issue & FREE Designer Series Paper!

SU! was absolutely elated recently to read Britney Mellen's glowing review of one of our products, the Stampin' Up! Terrific Tags Punch Box. Britney, Creative Editor of Creating Keepsakes, made her remarks in the editor's note of the CK 2008 Special Issue, The Scrapbooker's Ultimate Products Guide. We're thrilled that this very popular product is so high on Britney's list, but not surprised--this product, offered on a limited-time basis in the Winter Mini Catalogue 2005-2006, was a huge best seller.

As many of you know, this product is no longer available (retired)! BUT, here are a few things to keep in mind - that hopefully brings encouragement:
  • The punch included in the Terrific Tags Punch Box is the Small Tag punch, which is available in the Spring-Summer Collection 2008 (pages 180-181). The regular Tag punch is also a great option for use with several of our stamp sets

  • There are several stamp sets that include stamps that are designed to coordinate with the Small Tag punch. In particular, all stamps in the following sets can be used with the Small Tag punch and include stamps that can be used for a variety of holidays and occasions.
Holiday Blitz, set of 28, page 32 of the Spring-Summer Collection 2008
    Tagger's Dozen, set of 12, page 56 of the Spring-Summer Collection 2008

In her article, Britney mentions that contents of the punch box "were made to go together, so there's no guesswork."

Don't forget, although the Terrific Tags Punch Box has retired... there is a NEW Punch Box available in the Spring/Summer Collection catalogue! The 'Three for You Punch Box', is a great addition to any paper crafter's collection and, like other great products, may not be around forever. Keep with the creative trends and order yours today - lisaburns@rogers.com

Finally... here's a SPECIAL for anyone wishing to order the 'Three For You Punch Box' - every order placed before January 31st will receive a FREE package of Designer Series Paper! YOUR CHOICE !! That's a $19 value for FREE!! With so many new packages of DP, I'm sure there are a few on your wish list :o)

Stampin' Success Inspiration!

I don't think I rave enough about all of the perks you get by being a part of the Stampin' Up! family. With another major promotion just around the corner (Sale-A-Bration starts Feb 1st), I've decided to spend a bit of time over the next little while sharing some of those perks with you! The more you know, the more you see all the great things that SU! has brought to my life ... the more you might have questions about starting up your own home business - which I would be more than happy to help you with!

Let's start with Stampin' Success! This is a monthly publication (a small magazine if-you-will) packed with tons of great business tips, creative projects, techniques and information about what's coming up in the Stampin' Up! world! It is free for all demonstrators and I'll be the first to admit that I could NOT live without it! Many of my class ideas and projects come directly from this source - I only wish I could take full credit :o) The samples shows in today's post were inspired directly out of the February Stampin' Success, with only slight modifications!

Watch for more SU! demo perks over the coming weeks as well as an 'Opportunity Night' in the very near future!

Simply Scrappin' Baby 12x12 Class Tomorrow

I always look forward to my 'scrapbook' time - so having classes that focus on scrapbook is not only FUN for me but I also get way more of my own scrapbooking done in the process of preparing the class material :o) I created the scrapbook layouts for tomorrow's class awhile back so tonite, I spent some time cleaning up my space and making a few cards that I will need over the next week. Here's just one of them, using the 'Special Delivery' Simply Scrappin' Boy Kit!

Have a great night everyone!

Masculine Thank You's

Hi There Everyone!

Hope you are all keeping 'snug as a bug in a rug' out there! I have to admit, I kind of like the sub-zero temps - I don't feel as guilty for staying inside to STAMP! Sadly though I didn't have much time in my 'space' tonite so while I was there, I needed to make 2 masculine thank you cards for the guys that helped my team @ work move from one building to another last week! They did an awesome job getting us all settled into our new homes.

I realized tonight (as I do every time I go to make masculine cards) that I just don't have a really good male-type set! I must fix that soon - perhaps with my next order :o) Anyhow, enough chatter - here are the 2 cards - very simple...just the way men like things eh!!
Have a great night!

We had a great time last night during the SAS class - well I did, but I guess I shouldn't speak for the ladies that attended the class! :o)

Here are the cards the ladies made - 5 of the monogram card and 5 of the butterfly card - and in record time I must add. Nicely done ladies!

The monogram 'b' card was CASE'd from Gretchen Clark, and I just basically changed the colour scheme for the 'T' card because I ran out of cardstock for the 'b' card !

Accessories - Scallop Punch, 1 1/4 inch circle, 1 3/8 circle punch, mat pack with paper piercer

'b' Card

Cardstock - Cameo Coral, Ginger Blossom DP, Whisper White
Ink - Blush Blossom, Rose Red
Accessories - Scallop Punch, 1 1/4 inch circle, 1 3/8 inch circle, crop-a-dial (used to make the dot impressions on the scallop punch out

Oh My Gosh... Not Stamping Related!

Had to share these recent photos with you - because I am just SO proud of my family and thought you would appreciate the humour in these pictures! The picture of Evan was from tonight - he fell asleep on the way home from daycare and is still sleeping (as of 8:25pm). I know, I know ....what the heck am I thinking, he's going to be up ALL night but I couldn't resist 1) because he was just so tired when I picked him up today 2) he looks so darn cute all painted up from his busy day and 3) because it is so QUIET around here right now and I'm loving it!

Now, onto my DH. I was downloading some recent pictures from my camera to my harddrive and came across these images:
Yup... he's all mine girls!
So, to put this into context - my husband doesn't pose for pictures very much but in an effort to make Evan & I smile that particular day, he came up with this!

Thanks for stopping in tonite - hope I haven't scared anyone off! If Evan keeps sleeping I will definitely have some samples to share with you later tonite - lol :o)

Spring Fun!

Just wanted to point out that I have added a 'Spring Fun' slide show at the very bottom of my blog scroll and will continue to add to it as I make new samples! I'll leave the 'Winter Fun' slide show up for a few more weeks. I know I'm still making winter bday & thank you cards!

Enjoy!

Revised Valentine's Day Class!

Ok, ok, ok - I know that the lack of interest in my Valentine's Day Bundle Class was NOT because all of my blog followers & SU! customers don't celebrate a day of LOVE! I know that somewhere out there, there are dorky stampers just like me that look for ANY and ALL holidays & celebrations as an excuse to STAMP :o) :o)
So, rather than giving up on Valentine's Day altogether, I have decided to revise my January 21st class to the following:

Guests will get to make a candy jar similar to the one's posted above - I may have to slightly modify each project as I used rub-ons and chipboard but you will get to try at least 1 of these awesome products out when making this projects and YES - candy will be provided to fill your jar! This would make an ideal teacher gift or something for your own kids for Feb 14th! Heck, I'm taking one of my projects to work to keep candy on my desk for when the munchies hit!

Plus, guests will make 1 regular Valentine's Day Card and 2 of the 3x3 Valentine's Day card previously posted & posted again below for your reference, envelopes provided for all. I haven't decided on the regular sized Valentine's Card yet but stay tuned - hopefully I can get that sorted out before the weekend!

Cost - $20 per guest
If you decide to order the Valentine's Day Bundle (or equivalent order), the class fee will be reduced to just $5 per guest! Everything will be pre-cut for you so that you can come to this class and simply enjoy the stamping time!

Please RSVP as soon as possible, but at the very latest Saturday January 19th to secure your spot. Here are more pictures of the details on the jar projects:

Crayon Resist Tutorial Sample

My brother-in-law has a birthday in January so I made his card this weekend but I'm hoping it is masculine enough? Carolyn - his lovely sister - might very well be out there looking in on my blog...what do you think Carolyn?

I taught this technique at my class last Monday night - Crayon Resist! Here are the steps to creating this look:
  • Start by using Glossy White cardstock
  • Then stamp an image using a dark ink - I used Black Staz On so that I wouldn't worry about it smearing or blending. Good idea to let it dry for a few minutes though

  • Next, take a white crayon and color in any areas that you'd like to see highlighted or in this case, to appear like snow

  • Use your Brayer to roll a lighter color over your stamped & crayon'd image - I used Bashful Blue to keep the winter theme alive. If you don't have a brayer, you can try using your sponges to apply the colour

  • The final step requires you to take a paper towel or tissue paper and wipe over the stamped & crayon'd area to expose the white crayon

Because crayon is wax, the ink won't stick to it so it comes right off on your paper towel to leave the white highlight! You can experiment with all sorts of color combinations etc.

Hope you enjoyed the tutorial - have fun trying it out!

My NEW Stampin' Up!® Sponsered Website!

Just a quick post tonight as I have been on the computer way, way too much tonight but I have been a busy girl setting up my new SU! website. I will continue to have my Blog and update it regularly but having a direct link to a website sponsered by SU! will make life SOOO much easier for all of us!

Here are just a few things I will be able to do with my new site:
  • share promo's & specials faster & easier
  • share more samples as SU! provides a very simple way to manage these
  • create & send out monthly Newsletters (if you are on my customer distribution list you have likely already received January's from me :o)
  • maintain an event calendar that is FUN and super easy to read

As a customer, you'll be able to:

  • make requests of me for catalogues, workshops or newsletters right on the site
  • sign up to be a demonstrator - RIGHT ON THE SITE! How cool is that!!
  • see more samples, with full recipe of supplies used
  • keep up on all the great things SU! is offering
  • complete wish lists for family & friends for special occasions like Birthdays, Mother's Day & Christmas!

Hope you find a moment to stop by and check the site out - I will update a link to it on this Blog and likely have a Blog link on my SU! site so that the two can be used as needed!

Thanks for stopping by!

Have A Heart

...full of candy!

I've made a few trips to the dollar store over the last week and picked up some really great things to work with for Valentine's Day. Here's just one. I'll try to post the others as I complete them...

I really wasn't sure about this project as I was doing it... you know when you're working on something and it just doesn't seem to be going the way you expected it to... I think I'm ok with the finished product though.

I started with the little heart shapes plastic holders from the dollar store (prefilled with pink & red jelly beans (shown below) and then used Real Red cardstock punched Scallops to line the outer part of the heart. I then covered the inner scallops with Whispering White cardstock and layered another cut out heart in Basic Grey. I used the adorable little mouse from the Happy Heart Day stamp set and popped out a pink heart with a brad! My 4 year old really liked it so I think I will make a few more for some of his friends at school :o)

Thanks for stopping by tonight - and to Deborah & Carol for coming out to scrapbook & stamp!

SALE-A-BRATION 2008

Is just around the corner and I'm starting to think of some FUN ways to celebrate this AWESOME time in the Stampin' Up! year.

If you've never experienced Sale-A-Bration (formally known as Sell-A-Bration), all you really need to know is that it is a time when FREE stamp sets & accessories start flying out the door!

Here's a breakdown of how easy it is to earn free Stampin' Up! stuff - and as always - there is NO LIMIT to how many rewards you can earn so my recommendation would be to start thinking of people to invite to your party, attend one of my classes or sign up for a Stampers Club so that you will be in the right place at the right time to get your FREE STUFF!

Sale-A-Bration runs from February 1-March 17, 2008

Customers:

For every $70 purchase you make, you will receive a free Sale-A-Bration product

Hostesses:
In addition to our regular hostess benefits, hostesses will receive a free Sale-A-Bration stamp set for workshops that reach $400 or more

New Demo's:
Anyone who joins as a demonstrator during Sale-A-Bration can choose any stamp set--a value of up to $60.95--from the current catalogue

So, what do these FREE REWARDs look like you ask? You'll be able to see the SAB Mini very, very soon!

For those of you on my customer distribution list - watch your email for an additional SAB promo from me to you. If you aren't on my customer email distribution list but wish to be added - contact me at lisaburns@rogers.com and I would be more than happy to add you :o)

I'll continue to send out more information & updates as well as let you all know once I've received my preorder of SAB mini's and stamp sets!! If you are attending any of my upcoming classes you'll be able to get a sneak peak at the SAB mini in real life!! For all others interested in getting your advance copy of the mini, my shipment should be in early next week! Please email me at lisaburns@rogers.com if you wish to reserve a copy.

Monday January 7th Class Details & Spots Open!

Good Morning Everyone!

Just a reminder that there is a class this coming Monday (tomorrow) - that has lots of open space for anyone to join! Click here to view the original post with one change so far - in that I moved the 12x12 Holiday Scrapbook Class to combine it with the Technique Class on Monday night!

For those that have been thinking of attending a class, but aren't quite sure - it's important that you know that I keep the classes small, informal, FUN and the projects are kept simple. I see a lot of amazing work out there on other Blogs and such but I know it can be intimidating to think of yourself creating such work!

These classes guide you through the projects, step-by-step and this class is no exception. Both projects that you'll be making will be fully demo'd (i.e. I will show you step-by-step how to make both projects) and your project materials are all pre-cut for you in advance of the class - AND you'll get a reference sheet to take home with you at the end of the class so that you won't forget the steps when you try the projects again at home by yourself!

It might help if some of our newer stamping friends heard from those ladies that have attended classes (rather than just me babbling along) so if you have a second and feel so inclined as to leave a comment it would be GREATLY APPRECIATED :o)

Without further delay... here are the projects that guests will make tomorrow night. I plan to show a few more tricks tomorrow night during the demo so hope you can make it by!

Stampers 6 Club

Hi There Ladies!

Just wanted to re-post re. my Stampers 6 club as I've slightly modified it in light of the changes with pricing / catalogue etc.

A Stampers 6 Club put simply is an easy way for you to purchase Stampin' Up! supplies at an affordable pace each month for 6 months PLUS earn free Hostess Rewards just for doing so. Typically, one would need to host a home party or spend a lot of $$ to earn hostess benefits so by being a member of a club, you reap the rewards with little to no effort!

Here's how it works:
  • you receive a FREE Spring/Summer catalogue just for joining
  • you place a minimum $40 order by the 15th of each month (you can do this by email or phone or in person and you are not required to pay for the order until it is delivered to you)
  • you have the option to attend a club event each month at which you'll get to make either a full 12x12 scrapbook page or 2 cards
  • NEW - I will also teach 1 new project at the club event each month and if you CANNOT make the club event date - I will make your project for you and include it in your order bag!!! So, you'll never miss out on the fun!
  • you will receive 10% off your order (regardless of the amount) during your club month
  • you will also get a FREE inspiration sheet in your order bag each month

Please contact me at lisaburns@rogers.com if you are interested in joining - I'm hoping to start this club THIS month!

My First Official Team Meeting in 2008

And so in keeping with one of my New Year's Resolutions, I booked monthly meetings for all the members of my Stampin' Up! team from Jan-Jun and tonight marked our very first meeting!

Really though, I don't think we could even call it a meeting as it was more like a social get-together to STAMP! But, I have to say that there were some pretty good tips shared tonight as well as lots of creative ideas for future projects & classes!

Thank you Becca & Rebecca for coming out on this bitter cold night. I had so much FUN that I'm excited to start planning for our February meeting!

I did take some pics of the ladies working away at their project BUT they really didn't turn out that great (sorry ladies but you'll thank me later when you see them). My camera really stinks and I missed the great Future Shop Boxing Day sale on a Canon!!! sigh....

The final product did turn out though... so here it is for all to see! Back to work tomorrow but hopefully I'll have my 12x12 scrapbook pages for Saturday completed tomorrow night to show you - there is still room for that class if you wish to join!

Simply Scrappin' Baby 12x12 Class - January 26th

Mornin' Everyone!

I know this post may seem a bit early to everyone but it really isn't when you consider this is a pre-order class and so by popular request, I have planned for a 12x12 Simply Scrappin' Kit class that focus on BABIES!!

Included below are samples I've recently made up using the 'Boy' kit called Special Delivery (109648) - since I have a son, I knew I was getting this kit anyway and really enjoyed my time playing with it! I do plan, however to order & prepare pages with the 'Special Delivery Girl' kit so this class will address all BABY needs! Just visualize these samples with Apricot Appeal, Groovy Guava & River Rock until my kit arrives and I can make up these samples :o)

Here are the class details - be sure to RSVP if you wish to attend. All kits will need to be ordered by January 16th in order for us to be assured that the kits will arrive on time for the class! You are not required to pay for the kit/class up front however if you register for this event, the kit will be yours to keep as if placed as a regular customer order.

Saturday January 26, 2008 - 12x12 Simply Scrappin' Class / Baby (Preorder Required)

Start Time: 930am

By attending this class, you will get to make 4 full 12x12 page layouts, or 6 full 6x6 page layouts or 8 cards with envelopes plus, you leave the class with all that's left of your SS Kit - and there will be lots left over!! You do not need to bring your baby pictures for this class. All pages will be designed to allow you to fill the pages with your pictures at a later time. Even if you don't scrapbook, you can purchase the kit for cards & projects with a baby theme!

IMPORTANT - this is a preorder class. Each guest will need to RSVP in order for their kit to be ordered to arrive on time for the class. You will be primarily using your kit contents for your projects but I will be providing some 'extras' to the pages using my supplies.

Class fee which includes the cost of the SS Kit: $40
Class fee with kit & top up order of $20+: $35
Class fee with kit & top up order of $40+ order: just the cost of the kit ($30) - class is FREE!

Please RSVP no later than Wednesday January 16th if you wish to attend this class!

Above are the 2 2-page layouts that the 'Boy' kit participants would make. I didn't think the pics turned out too well so I've shown each page shot individually below:

Until next time...
