Excited About the Bird!

I'm so excited that SU! came out with this versatile bird punch! I've had the punch for a couple of months now and it has been the most well-used punch in my collection - which is actually quick remarkable for those of you that have been in my craft room and have witnessed, first-hand, my addiction to punches (lol)!!!

This sample was created for a friend of mine who's son is getting his sacrament of Communion next month. I was helping her come up with ideas for her invitations and favors. I'll show you the favor idea once I've completed it!

The invitation uses the stamp set "Refuge & Strength", and the Extra Large Two-Step Bird Punch found in the Occasions Mini! I also wanted to have something on the invitation that referenced the reason for the invite so I used the stamp image 'First Communion' from the stamp set "Special Blessing". I used a combination of Soft Suede, Certainly Celery and Very Vanilla for these invites.

Items from the Mini are only available until April 30th - don't wait, get yours now by emailing me at lisaburns@rogers.com!!

If you like the Two-Step Bird Punch shown below...you may want to check back tomorrow for a special class announcement for May!!

Same Layout / Different Colors!

The Big Shot Club / Class girls enjoyed this variation of the project colors, from the Tangerine Tango & Crushed Curry to Rich Razzleberry & Melon Mambo! I'm thrilled that 3 of these 4 colors will be coming back in the new 2010/2011 Color Collections!

To me, the addition of the Whisper White Little Leaves is the dramatic change to this card. The white contrast to the darker colors really pops off this card!

You can still register for the next Big Shot class / club event for May, June or July! As a club member, you end up with the Big Shot tool over monthly installments! All event guests get 10% off the regular price of the Die's used that night so you can save yourself some $$ AND leave the class knowing how to use the Die's!!!

Email me at lisaburns@rogers.com if you wish to reserve your spot!

Supplies used to make these projects include:

Big Shot Tools

Cardstock
Rich Razzleberry; Melon Mambo; Whisper White; Kraft (inside the Scallop book), Designer Series Paper

Invitation Sample #1

I was recently asked to make some Baby Shower invitations, which I was more than excited to do of course!!

I spent a lot of time mulling over different 'invite' ideas, but finally decided on a really cute & simple layout that I saw at a past SU! quarterly meeting. I believe the sample layout was originally created by Jodi Kutz! What made these invites so much fun to create was that I was able to make so many different variations of the same layout using different images from the Fox & Friends stamp set as well as different color combos.

If you have some invitations to create in the near future, I can help! I can help with ideas, or getting you the products/supplies you need or both! In many cases, you can save valuable $$ by making your own invitations for your upcoming events!!

Have a great night everyone! I'll be back over the weekend with some new club projects and more invitation samples!! Thanks for stopping by today!

Difficult to understand...

There are not many things that stop us in our tracks and force us to reflect like the passing of friends or family. This week, I have watched two separate families deal with the loss of loved ones, taken from them far too early in life.

In both cases, these families struggled along side their loved ones throughout lengthy illnesses - learning more about cancer than I'm sure they ever wanted to know. In both cases, these amazing young women left massive impressions on all the lives they touched - this was abundantly clear as we celebrated their short time with us, this past week.

My heart goes out to these ladies (now angels watching over us all), their families, their friends - and all those that are left to understand 'why' and how to go on without them, and I'm reminded of these extraordinary individuals by some of their favorite sayings / quotations:

"Try to live life from the point of love and trust rather than fear and doubt"

"Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain."

"Plan for the future, but live for today"

You will be forever loved and remembered Kim & Nicole. May you rest in peace knowing you made a difference in this world for so many...

What Does Color Renovation LOOK like?

Introducing your new 2010 Stampin' Up! Color Collections! This is a change, for sure! SU! wanted us to know how much time, and planning work went into this change as they walked us through the announcement on Tuesday... WOW!

While I know that losing colors is not always fun or easy for crafters, I'm thrilled with the coordination our new color collections will bring to this hobby. Many of the colors that have been eliminated were not highly used shades, and it was often difficult to find samples made using them. SU! also conducted many focus groups and research panels over a 2 yr span to analyize what customers were looking for in their crafting colors and what our competitors offered, in terms of varity or selection!

Time & time again, Stampin' Up! offered thee most color options in the market. While this could be viewed as an advantage for the company, customers often commented on how 'overwhelming' the number of color choices were for them, particularly our newer stampers! I'm going to summarize a few other benefits & reasons for the change in some upcoming posts, but for now, I'm going to let you digest the new look of our color collection as well as share what colors will be retiring.

TIP - You may want to do a quick inventory and decide if you'd like / need to stock up on any of the retiring colors, cardstock, markers, accessories with any retiring color as it will all retire in June. Like most years, I would expect that there will be a point-in-time when SU! inventory begins to deplete and these items become sold out! Why wait... stock up NOW and avoid the craziness that will occur in another month or so!!

Here are your new 2010/2011 Color Collections - ENJOY!

And, here's what's retiring...sniff, sniff

MOM

I'm starting to think about Mother's Day & Father's Day projects ... so I thought I would share this very simple card sample made using the Messages For Mom stamp set, and some of the Sweet Pea Designer Paper Package - both from the Occasions Mini! I wouldn't normally use a shade of red with a shade of orange but I quite like the result of this combination!!
Remember - you have less than a month to pick up items from the Occasions Mini before they're gone and a new smokin' hot Summer Mini is released!

You can view the entire Occasions Mini here.

Other items used to make this card include: 1-1/4 Striped Grosgrain Ribbon and Sweet Pea Stitched Felt.

I also wanted to remind you that there's still time to pick up one of these sweet 'Sweet Pea DSP Shares' I'm offering for just $12 (48 sheets of 12 different patterns)!!
