Guess What? More Pastels!

Can you tell I'm excited about my Pastels Class :o) If you like what you've been seeing and think you might want to attend - email me at lisaburns@roger.com to get full class details! I don't think my camera captures this card very well... the pastel effect is really subtle
Also thought I would share a few pics of Evan enjoying the melting snow today. Every 4 yr old boy is going to make the best of every messy situation and this was no exception. Check out how much FUN he was having in the water/ice - and the best part - they don't even seem to feel the cold! I was a bit chilled out there taking pictures of him and he barely noticed the temperature even when he was soaking wet!! Too funny!! Thank goodness for splash pants!
Have a great night everyone!

Once you open them you don't want to easily close them up!

Here's another sample as I continue to prepare for my April 21st Pastels class! I will be showcasing this class at the Western Fair Craft Show this coming weekend so if you want to attend, you should sign up before this coming weekend, otherwise there may not be any space left!
Have a great Monday! Email me at lisaburns@rogers.com to reserve your spot!

Pastels Class - Thursday April 10, 2008

Happy Saturday Everyone!

Wanted to share just 1 of the projects we'll be making at my upcoming Pastels Class (Thurs April 10th). There are some spots open so if you'd like to attend, contact me at lisaburns@rogers.com for full details!

We'll be making a number of projects using the Pastels as well as learning some cool techniques! I'm waiting on my 'Spring Fling' designer paper so this card may look a bit different at the class but the concept will remain the same. I got the card layout idea from 'Moments In The Making' but changed all of the colours up.

I thought it would be fun to post something using the Wild Wasabi cardstock for all those ladies that have taken advantage of the Wild Wasabi pre-cut cardstock promo!!!

If you haven't taken advantage of this deal yet, but you're interested, email me for more details.

DH has his hockey playoffs this weekend so aside from his dinner banquet, I may get a bit of time in my special space - if so, I'll be back with more posts!

Enjoy the sun everyone!

Happy 35th Barry!

We attended a 35th 'almost' surprise birthday for our friend Barry last night! It was so nice to get out and do some adult socialization while Evan enjoyed some time with Grandma & Grandpa!

Thought I would share 3 pics today... First -Barry's Bday Card! What a great party last night!

The 2nd pics are non-stamping related but funny (I think :o) I found these awesome and 'oh-so-appropriate-for-a-preschool-boy' t's at Bonnie Toggs last weekend:

Finally, one more non-stamping relating funny... We had Grandma & Grandpa over last night to babysit Evan while we were celebrating with friends and when we got home, we got the usual recap of the night. As my Mom is telling me about the events of the night, she says:

"Oh yes, and I think I will need to get you a new one of these..." and she hands me this:

So, apparently she is able to leave her microwave cover in when its in use at home so she didn't bother to take ours out to make Evan popcorn for his movie!! While the microwave cover didn't make it... the popcorn was delicious (so they all said)!!

Well, I'm off to do some Easter shopping today and hopefully hit my craft room this afternoon & evening so I may be back with another post! See you then!

2,4,6,8 Candy Bag Tutorial

Crazy eh - 3 posts in one day!!

As promised, here are some better (more visual) instructions on how to make the 2,4,6,8 Candy Bag from our recent MEGA event! I was just going to post a picture of the template but thought to myself... why not try a picture tutorial and show the making of the bag from beginning to end. WOW! Now I know why I don't do these tutorial very much - they take some time to create, edit and publish BUT I hope it is all worth it because I love these bags and I'm very thankful that you come by to see me by way of my Blog!!
You'll start with a piece of 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock and cut it into 2 equal 1/2's (8 1/2 '' x 5 1/2 '')

Then, you'll need to score as shown below at 2'' then 4'' then 6'' then 8'' - if you have an 'arm' on your cutter, you'll be able to use it when you get to the final scores!

Flip the cardstock lengthwise and score at 2''

Here's the visual. The dotted lines are score lines and the solid lines are where you cut

I tend to stamp my cardstock before cutting - its a bit easier that way

Here's what the cut & scored version should look like

Next, you'll want to start taping. TIP - using the picture above as reference, start taping on the right side where I've folded the first flap up a bit.

Work your way across, taping all squares of the base one-by-one until you get to the last square and small flap piece. Tape well - putting some tape on the flap piece also. The flap will fit inside to secure the box.

Fill with candy/snacks/chocolate - whatever you want! TIP - only fill about 1/2 way as you'll need some space at the top of the bag to finish.

Fold in sides so that the front of the bag wall and the back of the bag wall meet evenly. Apply some tape on the insides of the front/back walls to secure the bag. The will help when you go to thread your ribbon.

Using your crop-a-dial, punch 2 holes for the ribbon. The crop-a-dial works so well in this case because you're punching thru several layers of cardstock.

Using coordinating ribbon, thread through holes and decorate the rest of the bag as you wish (tags or sayings).

That's it - you're done! I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and that you come back to visit often :o)

Last Of The MEGA Event Projects + A Tutorial Coming !!

I'm sooo late with this post, so my sincere apologies to all of you but especially KAREN B! These are her wonderful creations from the MEGA event and I meant to post them right after Rebecca's posted projects but time got away from me...

My poor little 4 1/2 yr old has come down with something (?) since last Monday. Fever and just plain out-of-it for 4 days and now a nasty cold has broken out. I know kids get sick a lot but my little guy has been pretty fortunate to avoid much of the 'stuff' going around this season - I joke that he never stops moving long enough for germs to catch him :o) Anyhow, hope this is the end of it and he's back to normal soon!

So, onto Karen's projects! She made 4 of them! Enjoy!

1 Glass Jar using rub ons,

1 full sized card

2 different 3x3 cards!

Lastly, I have been working on a tutorial to share with you - might be later today, or tomorrow AM but its coming!

Hope you'll come back to see it!

More Easter Class Projects

Ok...so I'm breaking down a bit here and showing these baskets in advance of the class - I just couldn't wait until tomorrow night :o) I used a template right off of our SU! demo website (just one of the amazing PERKS of being a part of the SU! demo family) and found the baskets to be quite easy to make. A bit of cutting... but once that is out of the way, very easy to assemble!

You like?

Guests attending tomorrow night's class will get to make both of these candy baskets, the 2 cards posted yesterday and 3 - 3x3 Easter cards. All of the cards will have envelopes to match and candy (Easter chocolate) will be provided for the Easter baskets! I got an extra bag for us to munch on while we create - for anyone interested :o)

Thanks for stopping by today!

New Class Format + Time Running Out For Sale-A-Bration

Happy Hump-Day Everyone!

Edit to this post... I neglected (unintentially) to post the source of this card inspiration. I think sometimes I forget which cards I CASE and which I come up with myself - lol! As I went through some of my Fav's on SCS I realized that I had actually CASE'd this card from "stampinat6213" on SCS. Thanks for providing the inspiration :o)

I wanted to take a moment to let you know of my plans to move to a 2-class per month system starting in March and throughout the Spring/Summer to see if that format helps you with your planning and me with my family/work/SU! balance. In the past I've held 3-4 classes a month but because they are so close together in timing I find it a bit challenging to get the announcements & pictures out early enough and this typically results in lower class sizes. By moving to the 2 class/month format, I should be able to plan further ahead and allow you more notice to see if the dates work for your schedules while still limiting the class size to 8-10 to ensure comfort for all guests!

Plus, I often hear from my customers that they want to attend but would also like to know what else I'll be offering so that they can choose the class/event that is of most interest to them! With my new format, I will be attempting to post the 2 classes for the month on my Monthly Newsletter (1st day of the month), which many of you receive & have read! As always, I'm interested in your feedback & insight so if you have any suggestions or comments, feel free to send me an email at lisaburns@rogers.com and I will be sure to get back to anyone that writes!

Finally - there is less than 1 WEEK left in the annual Sale-A-Bration promotion that Stampin' Up! is having! So many of you have taken advantage of this wonderful time of the year to earn FREE stuff - thank you for your ongoing support of my home business!

If you wish to place a Sale-A-Bration order, all you need to do is email me at lisaburns@rogers.com before noon on March 17, 2008. Every $70 order (before shipping & taxes) qualifies for a free SAB reward! The attached card sample uses one of my FAVORITE Sale-A-Bration rewards "So Many Scallops"!!

Here are a few more of the projects that guests got to do at the event - these one's are compliments of Rebecca Wheeler!

Rebecca is all about trying new and different things to show the versatility of Stampin' Up! products! She was so excited to be in charge of a 3D project (the sticky pad holder) and the unique card projects and she did a fabulous job as you can see!

Hope you enjoy the pics and thanks for stopping by today!

3rd MEGA Event Project - 2, 4, 6, 8 Candy Bag

These 2, 4, 6, 8 bags are one of my favorite projects to make. They are sooo versatile and can be altered for ANY occasion! Some of my customers have used them for wedding/shower favors, dinner parties etc. I've used them for Daycare/Teacher gifts, Hostess gifts and gifts for Evan's little friends around the holidays etc. They are super easy to make up (once you have the template) to have on hand for those emergencies (like forgetting someone's bday)! Let me know if you'd like an instruction sheet by leaving me a post - I would be happy to send by email!

2nd (b) MEGA Event Project - Sticky Cut Letters

This was option 'b' at the event... Guest were able to make either the 'heart' or this 'h' card using the Sticky Cut product!

Amazing how so many of the guests (ok, maybe all) hadn't seen the Sticky Cut Letters in the new Spring Summer Collection Catalogue! I watched as guest after guest tried them out and fell in love with them ... just as I did when I first tried them out!! This was reinforced by almost every one of my guests ordering the Sticky Cut Letters & the Glitter by the end of the event! What girl doesn't like the BLING eh??
Not only do I want to show you the 'h' Sticky Card, but I've also include the original card I created using the Sticky Letters - the inspiration for the event card. The only difference I made was to the flower - I substituted the Build-A-Brad with the Ribbon Slide from the NEW 'Styled Silver' Hodgepodge Hardware kit (111325) found in the Occasions Mini. Click here to view.
Here are the project details for the event card:

Stamps: Fundamental Phrases (109513) $42.73
